The Bramble Berry Soapmaking Calculator will accurately calculate saponification (SAP) values for over 90 oils with superfatting ranges up to 20%. It does all the hard work allowing you to
formulate based on what you have on hand or if you just want to try a new oil. You can create liquid soap or bar soap recipes with this app. It will give results for NaOH (bar) or KOH (liquid) depending on what you are making.
The calculator also figures out an estimated amount of liquids (which can be water, tea, milk, etc.) for your recipe. This app comes pre-loaded with some of our favorite, tried and true recipes formulated by Anne-Marie Faiola (aka the Soap Queen with over 20 years of CP soapmaking experience). You can edit those recipes or make your own from scratch. Recipes can be saved and emailed. Recipe resizer works for all recipes; just switch from ingredients to batches, start a new batch, then resize each batch to any size ounces or kilos.
Once you have a recipe developed, you can easily make it larger or smaller to fit your specific mold by switching over to "Batches" mode and starting a new batch, then resizing your recipe.
The calculator figures in grams as well as ounces. Just change the unit of measurement to metric in the Settings if you prefer to work in grams. Change the settings by opening your iPhone/iPad settings, then scroll down until you see the Soap app. Click on it, then youll see the settings screen that lets you set your units.

Pros and cons of Soap app for iPhone and iPad
Soap app good for
I love this App! It offers great options. I would like to suggest one thing. If the total weight is over one pound I would really like the total to be in pounds and ounces not just ounces. My scale works that way and I have to move from your app to a calculator to do the math. Thanks from making such a great app.
Ignore the other reviews that say you cant convert to grams -- yes, you can, its in the settings.
This is a fantastic app. I no longer have to futz around with complicated spreadsheets to keep track of my recipes. It easily changes the size of an recipe, so I can switch molds without having to worry about the calculations. The notes section is a perfect place to keep track of additional ingredients, fragrances, colorants, etc.
The only thing Id like to add is a copy option, to create a new recipe based on old recipe. I have a base recipe that I use for everything and its a pain to have to retype it every time. But thats a tiny complaint for a fantastic app.
Some bad moments
This app might be worth 99 cents, but definitely not $5! Wait until they update the app to allow more other ingredients beside oils and fats. User defined ingredients are not even supported.
Terrible app, waste of money. Hardly any information, no cant convert ounces to grams etc.
Better to use another calculator. Only comes with oz no grams. Dont bother. Its not a good app at all
Do not buy this app! It crashes ALL the time, is annoying to use, and has less features than similar free apps. You can change from grams to ounces, but for some reason you have to go to the system preferences to do it when you should be able to do this directly within the app.
Great! I paid $2.99 for 3 recipes, but I dont know how much they yield and I cant change that yield to reflect my mold!
I can input my new recipes (my own or those gathered from: the net/books) but I cant change the yield and it provides no additional info!
Is my first recipe a cleansing one? Will it be too soft? Ill never figure that out using this Calc! Very disappointing!
I think this would be a good app if it didnt continually crash on my ipad.
